Default Cart recognised cc payment although the cc module is not enabled

This is a really odd problem.

I have a store that has only 3 payment modules enabled: Paypal Express, bank transfer and money order. Most customers pay through Paypal (using their paypal account or credit card), and their order payment info would say "paypalwpp", as expected.

But today I received an order, which says "cc" in order payment info. I've never seen that before. And because I don't have a credit card facility, I have not received payment.

Naturally I checked the payment modules again. I can't see anything wrong, the credit card offline processing module has a yellow light.

    How could this possibly happen?

Edit the Credit Card Offline Processing module settings, and click "Remove". There have been occasional reports of that sort of problem occurring when simply leaving it as "disabled" and not actually uninstalled/removed.

Thank you DrByte, I'll remove all the inactive modules.

Just to add more info on this incident for future references. Paypal shows no record of this transaction, so I'm guessing the customer never entered Paypal's site, which if true, suggests she entered her card numbers on my site...

I'll see if I could get more info from the customer. This is a new customer so I'm afraid the confidence level is way low.

I'm using Paypal Express only, is it safe to remove Paypal IPN - Website Payments Standard?

Yes, you can remove it. You only need one or the other, depending on your preference.
