Paying with cheque and adding admin charge

I am using 1.3.8 and have a customer that wants to accept cheques as payment. He also wants to add an admin charge for cheques (due to the bank charge and his time to go and put it in), how would i do this? I am also wondering is there a way that he can manually say to the system that he has paid it in and / or its cleared?

According to its description, the Credit Card Surcharge Fee mod can be configured to work with any payment method.

In Admin -> Modules -> Payment, for the "Check/Money Order" module, if you make sure the "Set Order Status" setting is set to "Pending", then that's what the order status will be once the customer has made their order (by cheque). Then once that cheque has cleared, you can go to that order (in Admin -> Customers -> Orders) and manually change the order status to "Processing" or even change it straight to "Delivered" if you are going to deliver the item as soon as you have the money.
