    Default Payment Gateway Question

My company uses Trust Commerce. We were about to switch over to PayPal as we have been informed that they are extremely compatible with Zen Cart. Unfortunately, Pay Pal doesn't store credit card info, and I believe that means it would be stored on our server. We are looking to avoid this circumstance.

So my question: is there a payment gateway that holds card info, so we do not have to? Also, I'm just curious, what gateway, other than PayPal, do most Zen Cart users use?

Thanks for any and all advice.

Why do you require CC data to be stored?

Why do you feel that you need to store credit card info?
If you are connection your site to a live transaction gateway that processes cards in real-time, then there's no need for you to store the card info, because the gateway ( the ones who move the money into your merchant account) handle that for you. Even PayPal handles that for you ... they'll never give you the number because you don't need it.
Zen Cart doesn't store the complete credit card info either, for security reasons.

If you're looking for recommended payment gateways, here's a link to several providers for North American merchants: http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...es&pages_id=38

Thanks, guys, I think my question has been answered. But still: according to my employer, PayPal told her they do not store the info. This led to her believing it would be stored on our website's server...that the card info had to be stored somewhere. Is this or is this not true? We obviously do not want the burden of storing card info.

Really, thank you for all your help. This forum has been wonderful to me.

Well, I'm not sure who she was talking to at PayPal or in what context the question was asked or the answer was given, nor why she's so concerned about needing to store the details. Maybe she's used some low-end ecommerce system in the past where she had way too much risk or responsibility, unlike with Zen Cart.

While PayPal has to store the info internally to manage the transaction, that's completely irrelevant to your website or your transactions.

Simply stated: no, you don't need (or want) to store credit card info ... especially if you're using PayPal for payment handling.
