Limit the products that a group of customers can see

Hello

A client has asked if we can limit the products that a logged in user can see based on thier membership of a "group".

Has anyone come across a requirement like this before or can you point me in the direction of a contribution?

There's no contribution that I know of that will do this, but the question has come up before. The solution really depends on exactly what you are trying to achieve - if it's simply allowing a single category to be viewed ONLY by members of a group, then it is achievable with some work. I've done that for a couple of clients in the past. For some of the considerations involved, see my posts in this thread.

However the products i need to show to certain customrs could be anywhere is any category on the site.

You might be able to achieve that by adding a membership status field to each product (and to the customers), but you'd have to modify a lot of sql queries throughout the cart to use it as a filter based on the customer's membership status.

Yeah - that's my worry - lots of code changes meens lots of testing!
