Sort By Size Question

I'm setting up an online thrift store, essentially, and I would like to be able to sort my products by size. The problem is I only have one of each product and in one size. How does that work with zen cart?

You could set categories Small Medium Large X-large
then subcategories by the size (Womens Mens Kids, then pants, shirts, and so on)

I'm too far into the process to go back and redo all the products. There are like 500 of them. Any other suggestions? I was thinking I might be able to search by size instead.
