How to apply a tax to all items?

Is there any way to apply a tax to each item without having to go into every product??

I am having problems setting up a tax on existing stock. In the process of re-setting my account, I deleted the zone in which all of our stock set its tax to. I remade the zone, and realized only later that this was why the zone was failing to be taxed.

Does anyone have a way to apply a tax to each item in all categories? This would be only one zone (for instate tax) yet applies to all items. Help?? Thanks a lot in advance

Good question...

I use Navicat

1. a killer program to access the database tables and edit very quickly
2. you would edit the table called
3. products
4. go to the heading products_tax_class_id
5. Change from 0 to 1
6. all the way down
7. very simple and easy to do
8. Google: Navicat 8 lite for MySQL

Following the steps, I was able to change the tax on all 800 items within 5 minutes. Pretty great.

Guess you don't want to know the command, after backing up your database, to change all products_tax_class_id from 0 to 1 can be done in the Tools ... Install SQL Patches ... with the command:

UPDATE products SET products_tax_class_id = XX;

where XX is the value you want to use for the tax class id ...

It is a handy one ...

phpMyAdmin or Navicat are very handy for other types of changes ... so not a bad alternative ...

I had to change my tax class on over 3000 products from none to Taxable! It took me longer to back up the database than to input the SQL patch!

Super Awesome, as I was worried I wouldn't be able to find a quick way to do this!

BTW, I searched "changing tax class on all products" and couldn't find anything useful, by a fluke, I found this thread and read through it, otherwise, I wouldn't have found this little tip!
