    Default google's checkout scam

I am one of the many Google Checkout users here- for now at least..

Once the new pricing structure goes live I will drop them like a red hot brick. I don't have an issue with the fact that they want to make money but I resent the bait and switch mentality that they have adopted.

    I expected more from them.

International orders will be more expensive to process than both paypal and my worldpay account.

I will also spend more of my advertising budget with live/msn and yahoo.

I shall probably sell my soul and offer paypal as an option- I have never liked them (albeit irrationally) and drop the google option.

I guess that I am not alone.

I don't recommend PayPal they are more of a headache than google. It took me a month to get money from one of my orders.

can you link to the details of their new rates, I was just thinking of switching to using GC cause of the adwords credit/integration

I'm currently using paypal...but the $30/mo is kinda steep

With the GC module, does it only process orders on their 'page' and not on a ZC page (https://mysite.com)?

Realise that in the current economic climate, practically all banks are looking at ways of raising more revenue - and they tend to look first at how they can milk the commercial sector.

I think that wherever we look now for payment systems and gateways, prices will rise across the board. I would go for reliability, because a handful of faulty payment processings from a "cheap 'n nasty" gateway can lose you more than you would otherwise save if the bank was reliable, but more expensive.

Yes, that is the way it works.
Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

    Thanks Kim,

Timely advice schoolboy - I guess I'll stick with PayPal because Google not only raised their rates, but removed the credit for linking an adsense account to a checkout account!

Yeah, the whole "beta" thing is obviously the primary gimmick in their business plan.

There is nothing irrational about not liking PayPal. There's nothing irrational about avoiding them.
