Adding to the product # based on the option selected

Ok. First I have to thank you guys for helping me figure out the options the past few days. I appreciate it.

I have recently run into another potential problem. The owner of the site has suggested that they may want to take the product number for each product and, based on what material a customer chooses, add a letter to the end of it. In other words if a customer chooses product number DR1301 and they want the sign made out of Styrene then they want to add the letter "S" to the end of DR1301. Is this possible within the zen cart admin panel? If not within the admin panel could someone point me to the area of the source that I would need to modify to get this done? I am PHP developer so there's no worries there but it would be nice to at least have an idea on where to look to get this done if I do need to edit the source code.

By default the system is not coded for diffrent model numbers based upon attributes.
You might get closer by installing a 3rd party module, stock by attributes, to a test install. As it can track stock by attribute already adding a mdl # should be easier within this framework
