Default Newbie: What should i do to BACKUP my Site/Template?

    ZC 1.3.8a

    Hello,

I am still far from completing my site. But, i am at a point where I am happy with all the work I have put into the design/template changes and configurations. I use WS-FTP to make changes to CSS and PHP files on my template.

    My site is http://hugocruzgallery.com/shop/

So, I am assuming I should regularly make a backup copy of ALL Files that are in the "public_html/shop" directory? or is this overkill?

What else do i have to backup? Database files? I would greatly appreciate specifics with steps because it may be new to me.

Thank you, in advance, for your replies.

You don't need to backup ALL the files on your server... just the ones you have made changes to. And if you followed the overrides procedure, this is quite a simple process.

I assume you already have a full copy of the ZC software on your local drive anyway?

There are various ways you can backup the database (which should be done daily). There is a backup module in the Free Software Addons, I believe. You should also be able to backup using your host admin console, or via phpMyAdmin.

My host offers a full site daily backup/restore for a small additional fee of $2 / month - and that is almost free - considering the value of this service. Fortunately, I have never had to use it, but what a great insurance policy it is.
Did my post help you fix something? You can show your gratitude by buying the the dev team coffee.
