    Default LMAO - 1 page checkout = magneto :)

    Hi All,

    just a quick heads up.
a php friend just pointed me to a 1 page checkout system that the source code is available to modify and its free!

a very similar 1 page checkout to something i have seen very recently.

    check this link
    demo.magentocommerce.com/checkout/onepage/

oh well i have been going nuts for the last couple of days trying to reverse engineer this......5hrs sleep and 20+ cups of coffee per hour LOL.

well anyone that wants to give it a try should really check this out first.

OMG this is so funny.....sorry its just lack of sleep and sarcasm

    I am Sylar .......
please release before we do - installation still earns a good penny

One page? Well sorta ... still ends up being more clicks than using a stock Zen Cart checkout. Oh - turnoff your javascript - can't do a thing ... Now THAT's funny!!!!

Out of curiosity I checked this link and couldn't notice any savings in clicks over Zen Cart.

Also, I noticed that the demo site you provided is slow and sluggish.

Back then, when I was considering various shopping carts for my site (eventually choosing Zen Cart), I looked at Magento, too: I was disappointed to see that it requires a dedicated server (or at least VPS), while Zen Cart still operates efficiently on shared web hosting. Forget the cost -- what about being green?

Kim, to the best of my understanding, some javascript is still needed to at least register an account on a Zen Cart store (the drop-down listbox for Country?). Am I mistaken?

While it works best with JS enabled, it does degrade and function without.

Yes very valid point, but still its an insight for others to play with.
(lets bring back flaming animated gif's then)

All that needs to be done is an integration into zencart....as done before by others.
Maybe they shouldnt use it either to validate your point?

It would have been great for others to know and maybe detailed before.

I can only think of one reason.........
Give a person the tools or insight and everything becomes better, isnt that the purpose of 'open-source'?.

well i am not stating that magneto or zen are better, thats a choice people make for themselves.

a little knowledge makes the world a better place and this is a start of maybe something good for all that use zen and not a selected few that are willing to pay.

zencart = open source (hense this forum)

yes i agree and need to optimize the images and narrow down the file sizes.
i can do this on wholesale and then test again before it goes to the 'live domain' that is not registered in this forum.

please keep in mind that its just a testing ground...........to see if stuff works..........the js scripts/images are the main fault.

but i DID get stuff to work.........and will share after all is done.

My point being........I asked how the 1 page checkout was done, but i got no response as others are charging money for this mod and kept it a close secret, so i took a pro-active approach so i could share with others.
    is that a bad thing?
site i refer to that uses this function: http://www.usim.co.il/en/

maybe i believe that knowledge is free and not for those who pay someone to do it for them.
Give a man a fish and he eats for 1 day, teach a man to fish and he eats for life.

im gonna try to avoid posting anything else until im done.

    thanks anyway and much appreciated.

open source = try, fail, try again, succeed and share for others to avoid my mistakes and improve to move forward.
