help question Upgrading from 1.1.4 to 1.3.8 Aaaarrghh

I've inherited a site that hasn't been upgraded for some time, well since 1.1.4. The prospect of running the upgrade is quite a scary one even if one has backed the site up.

The template in use is built bespoke and many mods have been made to language files and, I suspect, quite a few other places.

I've used Joomla on a number of sites and that has a very effective updater which sorts out the update of the core files and doesn't seem to mess anything up in the process. Is there something similar for Zen Cart or maybe a method that doesn't involve going through file by file?

Any tips and tricks to make the process as easy as possible would be appreciated, and not only by me but by many on this forum I suspect.

    Thanks

    Crispin
