How to remove payment modules?

Hello,

I want to completely remove the payment modules that I know I will never use but I can't figure out how to properly remove them.

I removed the php file of the payment module from /myshop/includes/languages/english/modules/payment but I get an error when I go to payment modules in the admin.

Warning: include(/myshop/includes/languages/english/modules/payment/authorizenet.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /myshop/myadmin/modules.php on line 173

Is there more files I need to remove?

Unless you are absolutely sure of what you are doing (like the guys who wrote this software), never remove core files.

In your admin panel, click on the payment options you don't want and click the REMOVE button.

If you decide later you want it, click the INSTALL button.

Don't take chain-saws to the code. You'll mess up your site.

It's for security reasons.

People have had issues in the past where hackers get into admin and install payment modules such as CC and steal your customers credit card info (I read this in a post by someone who had been hacked). I see no reason to have the payment modules that I know I will never use and it can only help make my cart more secure.

It's simple enough to replace the files I have deleted if theres a need to, but it was recommended to the person who was hacked that they completely remove the CC payment module to prevent it from happening again in the future.

Even if the CC payment module is removed from the admin panel a hacker could still install it and steal customers info, but if its completely deleted from the system it's not as easy for them.

I appreciate any help/advice on how to completely delete payment modules.

There's no limit to what a hacker can do once they have access to your system... that's why ZC has paid a lot of attention to anti-hacker techniques and how malicious code can be blocked. Additionally, you need to make sure your hosting company's servers are properly secured. If you are running a business online, you should be on a secure server (SSL), and you need to make sure that vulnerabilities in your own stuff are minimal (have a 14-character FTP login and your host admin account, for example).

If you suddenly see a payment option on your store that you did not activate, then take appropriate measures. (You should be monitoring your store very frequently - at least twice a day).

Until you experience a "hack", don't panic... Just make sure that all the above points are being considered.
