remove blue bar / line under top nav bar and align header left

The top nav bar where home, contact us etc are, uses my image (tile_back_new.gif) still looks odd on my dads monitor, as theres bit underneath it, a solid blue line and it looks fine on my monitor but on my dads, this whole nav bar is bigger and so is the text of its links 'home' 'contact us' etc and so on my dads monitor these links seem to overlap onto the blue block/line underneath and so the words look like they have a line through them, where the tile_back_new.gif image and the line meet. I hope you understand?? So I guess I'm asking how can I just get rid of this bit underneath the tile_back_new.gif alltogether?

My second query is, we want the 'great gift shop' text in the header to be moved down a bit and aligned left so that its to the left of the image of the presents. Any ideas, please?

ignore me, I've changed the tile_back_new.gif image so that the gradient is reflected instead which looks a lot better.
