Removing the categories in the header.

Can anybody tell me how to remove the categories in the header, under the logo?
I only want the customers to select the categories in the drop down menu and I don't want a double nav.

There is a switch in the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

Categories-Tabs Menu ON/OFF
Categories-Tabs
This enables the display of your store's categories as a menu across the top of your header. There are many potential creative uses for this.
0= Hide Categories Tabs
1= Show Categories Tabs
