Default OZ Post Shipping Module is splitting a single small item.

    Hi all,

I am testing my new site and the item I'm testing is a 100g item. The shipping module is set to grams as is my site. For some reason I get the following in the shipping calculator:

    "Total Items: 1 Weight: 100 grams Amount: $5,000 Dims: 22x14.5x3.5 Boxes: 3"

Does anyone know why it would be splitting this item into 3 boxes? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

I think I have it sussed out now. I think it is charging in multiples of 50g which is the first postage limit AusPost uses. Does anyone know why it would be splitting packages for every 50g?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

The parcel splitting is performed by zencart itself based on the configuration shipping&packaging settings, HOWEVER, the ozpost module *ignores* these settings and calculates the costs by the items in the cart using its own methods. It currently doesn't perform any parcel splitting whatsoever.

The older module (AustPost) *did* use the the zencart parcel splitting data (based on weight), as well as performing its own parcel splitting based on dimensions, but both methods were prone to splitting parcels in impossible ways, which is why I didn't carry that code across to the ozpost module.

    Cheers

You have the "maximum shipping weight" set to the default of "50". If using AustPost and the grams setting you'll need to change this to 20000gms (20kgs, which is the maximum Australia Post will accept).

If using the ozpost module the "maximum shipping weight" setting is ignored, and the module has been hard coded to produce an error if this weight is exceeded.
