Help! Initial Load time so slow!

Hi,
I'm in the process of developing a site for a client. I noticed it takes 20+ seconds for the site to initially load (from any page), and then 5 or less seconds when clicking through the site. This is a problem because if the user doesn't see the site within a matter for seconds, they will think it's too slow or doesn't work.

The webhost doesn't seem to be the issue because I have other sites that use their mysql servers and it's not slow, so I'm wondering why is this happening for my one and only zencart site?

There's something hinky in your infrastructure. The first connection to your site triggers a 301 permanent redirect. When I tried to connect, it took 3 secs for the initial location to respond and then 41 seconds for the re-direction to be executed.

After that the Zen Cart itself loaded in a little under 10 seconds with half of that being dedicated to downloading the big 215k main image.

So it's not the Zen Cart that's slowing you down, it's something in how your site or your server has been configured.

My webhost (IXwebhosting) is giving me weird solutions, like they are telling me to purchase a "Zen Cart Performance Module" from some random website. I refuse to purchase that because I'm sure that's not needed for it to work at a reasonable speed.

Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this issue?
