    Default security error

Hello, I am receiving the message There was a security error when trying to login as a customer.

What I have done so far. This is all being done on a test store NOT my live store.

Downloaded a fresh install did a compare and made any adjustments to the files so I didn't lose what I have in my current store.

I applied security patch and that seems to work fine.

I did a second compare both times I went file by file. Making sure I didn't miss anything.

I have a custom style but I changed it to the stock green style and have received the same results.

If you click on login a second time you will login and NOT get the error messages.

I have spent the last two days working on this and now I really don't know what else to do. I have read over the instructions and I also have a message board so upgrading is not new to me.

I have a lot of threads here and followed any and all instructions to check things etc.

Where do I go from here? Short of doing another fresh install and then making all the changes to match the current store I have which would add even more time.

    Thanks for any help.

Please define "stock green style" and how you changed.
Do you have SSL turned on or off?
    Any mods?

Hello, I changed the style in Admin panel. I have SSL turned on. I am not using any mods.

    Thanks

    Try turning the SSL off.
If that doesn't fix it, we'll need to look like Kim and the posting tips say.

I turned the SSL off and it didn't give me the error. So then I take it that the problem is in that area?

    Thanks

The clue was "There was a security error" and "This is all being done on a test store NOT my live store."

SSL is pretty picky about things matching up

Thanks! I will go live with the upgraded store and then check it out.

That does make sense to me.

Thanks again for your help. I learned something new. Isn't that what life is all about learning each day.
