Only can have 1 mysql database

My account only allows me to have 1 MYSQL database. When reading over the instructions to upgrade from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8a it says create a new databse. What should I do. I don't mind not being able to test it before going live. Should I just make a backup and upgrade over the 1.3.7 databae

If you are only allowed 1 database with your hosting provider ... you do not have a lot of choice ...

However, consider your future when you are a Live Store and want to upgrade, test new versions, etc. etc. ... you will find that 1 database limit a very unhappy situation ...
