Newsletter Subscribe add mobile number?

I am looking to tweak the Newsletter Subscribe add on to also caputre a mobile number as optional.

Has anyone done this or something similar?

Where is the best place to make this change?

Newsletter:
Admin>Configuration>Customer Details>Show Newsletter Checkbox>Change setting to 2.

Mobile Number:
I did this by changing the Fax Number to be a Mobile Number instead.

Edit the following files to change the word Fax to Mobile:
admin/includes/languages/english.php approx line #260
includes/languages/CUSTOM/english.php approx line #240

But what if you wanted both?

I think this is a design limitation to Zen Cart, probably the original registration form was invented before mobiles but I think in this day and age would be nice to have this as an addtional field.

There is probably a long hack to do so it shows up in admin.
