    Default Reinstall advice urgently needed

    Hi everybody.
    I need some help. Zen Ver 1.38
    Im hosted at godaddy/shared linux with ssl cert. numerous addons that work fine. I used the Free Red template originaly.

    I think I need to reintall zencart or replace all the files to start fresh with no templates or addons and KEEP the database.
    Being GoDaddy/shared hosted, the db is hosted on another server. I have made a full db backup including tables as outlined here on this forum but have not tested whether the db can be imported sucessfully (or even restore the db for that matter.)

    I have read caveats here that some info related to the template I was using is now stored in the database and my site may have problems displaying unless I use the same template.

    I want to use a different template (cherry-zen) which I have a local zen setup with the demo DB and a couple addons.

    What is the best course of action in this case? Keeping MY db is a must!

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Best to search this Forum using "godaddy" as your Searchword and you will find many threads on GoDaddy problems. Perhaps a solution that worked for them will work for you?

    I searched "godaddy", read everything there and elsewhere on the forum that I can find. Its confussing to say the least.

    I guess I'm not sure what the question is. The link you provided has Cherry Zen installed now. There shouldn't be any template settings in the database. Can you just install a new installation of Zencart and point it to your existing database?

    Yes the url I gave is cherry zen template (I was using free-red and wanted to try cherry zen) but it doesnt display correctly, and changing back to free-red was even worse. Its my first install and maybe mucked up with newbie mistakes. I have learned alot with this first one.

    So a clean install is in order.
    Exactly how do I point a new installation to the existing database?

    I have searched the forum for that answer but cant find the answer.
    or the procedures are unclear. Remember the host is godaddy and the db is on another server.

    So now I have reinstalled zencart, linked it to the existing database during the install process and no products or customers show up.
    What did I do wrong?

    I am going to move my installation from /public/store/ (to root).

    My admin sessions path is:
    /mnt/p3hnas127_data01/p3nlhssl016/content/j/o/h/johnston09/tmp_store/zen-cart-v1.3.8a-sp-20090619/cache

    Do I change it to?
    /mnt/p3hnas127_data01/p3nlhssl016/content/j/o/h/johnston09/zen-cart-v1.3.8a-sp-20090619/cache

    or

    /mnt/p3hnas127_data01/p3nlhssl016/content/j/o/h/johnston09/tmp/zen-cart-v1.3.8a-sp-20090619/cache

    I see on the forum some people have problems with this.
