Thanks to someone else who pointed me in the right direction, I've got the cart patched and upgraded to accommodate the Payflow Pro stuff, but the payment module tries to force me into setting up Express Checkout. Since we're Payflow Pro (not Payment Pro) customers, we're not required to institute the express checkout. I just got off the phone with PayPal's Payflow Support verifying this.
We do NOT want Express Checkout. We sell classes on line and in order to be able to prove that you completed the class, we're required to provide documentation to the student, the employer, and in some cases, a licensing body as well. Because of that, we have a custom checkout process that harvests that data.
We do NOT want express check out. I'm not sure what to do about that. Anyone have ideas?

You may need to leave it enabled for Zen Cart's Paypal module to work. But since you have no legal obligation to use it, why not edit the shopping cart template to simply remove the button.

What is the name of the module, as it appears in Admin->Modules->Payment, which is telling you that Express is required?

It tells me that I *must* enable express checkout in order to use payflow pro. That's a bit problematic for us.

Are you saying that when you click on the "PayPal/Verisign" option and then click "install", that you're getting that message?
Or does that message only appear if you click "install" on the "Website Payments Pro" option?.

As soon as I click on it, it says that Express check out has to be enabled and it won't let me turn on Payflow Pro without having Express Checkout configured.

The PayPal Verisign option is the OLD payflow pro module for ZenCart that won't be working after 9-1. I'm under the impression that it can no longer be used since it uses the cert to connect to Payflow.

If you do a quick search there is a FIX for this payflow issue already out
I believe I pointed you to it in your OTHER post about it,
The issue you are experiencing with the paypal express required is you are trying to hit paypal PRO totally different moduleZen cart PCI compliant Hosting
