Paypal Receipt for payment Notification email has total but NO ITEMS!

I am in desparate need of assistance. I have spent weeks preparing this online store and all is working well. HOWEVER, we tested the site to see if we were able to place an order from start to finish. All works fine. EXCEPT that I get a PayPal notification email that tells me the customer has sent me $xx.xx but there are no details of what it is that they ordered so i have no idea what to mail to them!

If you're using Website Payments Standard, you'll need to make sure your server is receiving PayPal's background notices (IPNs) of orders, otherwise they won't show up in your store.

Express Checkout doesn't rely on the IPN background process to notify you of new orders, and thus doesn't have problem you describe.
