Default Adding site map link to home page footer

Is there anyone that could help a "newbie" work out what is probably quite a simple task. It is costing me a fortune to get web hosters to carry out tasks that are probably quite easy. I have a site map in my Define Pages Editor but I can't work out how to place a link to this on my home page. The whole system is hosted and not loaded onto my local machine. If there is anyone out there who might be willing to act as a bit of a mentor for me I would greatly appreciate it. I bought the Zen Cart book and while it is great for the basics, often lacks the info I want. Please, someone help!

The "footer" where the HOME link appears is the NavSupp element, and you can add links to this using EZPages.

Go to ADMIN >>> TOOLS >>>EZ PAges

and create a NEW EZ Page called "Site Map"

Now, you want this as a INTERNAL LINK, so there will be no text added in the big content input box on that edit screen in front of you.

First thing is to tell the EZPages editor WHERE you want that link. Click the YES radio button next to FOOTER . Make all other choices NO. Then in the SORT ORDER next to Footer, type in 10

Scroll down over the large input box to INTERNAL LINK input field

    Type in:

    index.php?main_page=site_map

    SAVE...

The link is now in the footer...

You can do this with other pages too.

    index.php?main_page=contact_us
    index.php?main_page=advanced_search

They must have a sort order greater than 0 or they won't show. Sort order number determines where they appear in the list, in relation to each other.

Sadly, many people in the business will rip you off - like auto mechanics.

This forum is well-supported and many people will offer help.

Always come here first, before you pay a "web host".

While there may be occasions when a job will require a fee (I do charge for my consulting services like most helpers on the forum), a lot of what you need to know is FREE and GOOD ADVICE on this forum.

Thank you so much for your response! It is heartening to know that there are people out there who are willing to take the time to share their knowledge and expertise with a newcomer. I followed your very clear instructions to the letter and it all seemed to go fine however it still does not show on the main page footer. I am wondering if this is because I have not downloaded the Zen Cart to my local machine?? Would this be the case? (Sorry to be a pain!)

Under ADMIN>>>CONFIGURATION you will see config for EZPages Settings. Make sure you configure the Display Status for each sectio as required.

Also, you must make sure you give your EZPage (or EZLink) a SORT ORDER value greater than 0, or it will not display.

On the EZPages Admin screen - the main one where you see those rows of red and green blobs - make sure your desired link has a GREEN blob under the respective columns (in your case, FOOTER).

Thanks again for your response. It all seems to be showing up on the EZ Pages Admin screen as you described but still nothing on the home page. I am not sure if it is me or the way my webhosts have set it up? Anyway, I will plod along, I guess its not a priority and will get there eventually. My most sincere thanks to you for your very clear input.
