    Default changes not applying

    Hi all,

    I have been trying to make a change to the categories within admin and I update but the changes dont take effect...could this be a file permission problem?? if do which??

    I havent changed any file permissions since installing so dont understand why its not working.

    Please help

    database error Re: changes not applying

    I'm having this problem too. When I make a change that requires database access, and press Update, the admin console goes back to the Admin Home screen and the changes that I made (for example setting configuration->minimum-values->date of birth to 0) do not get applied.

    I've checked the configure.php file to make sure that the username, database name, server name and password were all correct. They are.

    I can make changes directly to the database using phpMyAdmin.

    I can make changes to other Zen-Cart installs I have.

    I'd be grateful for any help.

    This is one possible symptom of an improperly-installed security patch. Does your admin header say your Zencart installation is up-to-date?

    I do not have any security patches installed.

    When I press the "Check for Update" button, the interface says: "Your version of Zen Cart™ appears to be current."

    I am just trying to change anything I cant confirgure my payments module I cant make any changes at all from within the drop down menu in admin.

    I havent changed anything or installed anything other than easy populate. This has come about since then. My version is current too.

    I have too much already in my store to start again.

    Help please.

    I've checked again, and even if my configure.php permissions are 644 or greater, I still can't get Admin to write to the db.

    I have another site with an issued SSL certificate and a permission number of 405 on configure.php, and that writes to the database just fine.

    Arrrgh.

    I am having the same problem OMCSChris has described. I believe I installed the security update correctly, but am still experiencing this issue.

    I have just installed version 1.3.8 and the recent security patch security_patch_v138_20090619 and I am having the same issue.

    This window pops up -
    Send this information over an insecure connection?
    Although this page was loaded over a secure connection, the information you have entered will be sent over an insecure connection, and could easily be intercepted by a third party.

    I click send and then I am redirected to the Admin Home page. When I go back to the item that I tried to edit the changes did not take effect. I this case I was trying to load a custom template. I have see the same message when trying to make changes with no visable effect.

    One exception to "no visible effect", I tried to add a tax zone via Locations/Taxes >> Zones Definitions >> Insert button. I type in my zone name and discription and click Update button. A blank zone is created with no name or discription. When I try to edit the zone - no chage.

    I haven't looked into it too much beyond what I have mention. I access the admin through ssl. I will check for errors connecting to the db, but have no reason to think that is the problem atm. No errors in the server log. I will look in some other logs shortly.

    I solved my issue. It was not related to the security update. It was related to my ssl cert. I reinstalled zencart and still had the issue in the admin pages. I changed the http server in the two configure.php files to read https instead of http. The admin pages apparently use the http server which caused the popup message and likely my apache redirect was causing an issue.
