Cannot make changes in admin

Hi

I have just moved a copy of a site to a temp folder.
Over wrote fresh instal and imported old database to new frsh instal db.

All products etc display, can access admin and everything looks ok, but when I go to make changes they do not come into effect.

I tried to change the site template but nothing happened.
I tested turnig off other items and this didn't work either.

Any ideas please?

I just spent a day changing file permissions, deleting cookies and {wince} passwords. Adding the demo Admin to my site, etc.

I can change the files directly by FTP-ing the changes, but Nothing I do using the admin dashboard effects my site.

Help!

BTW, I CAN add new products.

It looks like everything on my Admin dashboard works EXCEPT for anything under Tools.
