Discounts on all products for certain members

Can anyone help me with a question please?

I have Zencart 1.3.8 up and running, nearly ready to go live with it. However I sponsor a web forum, and would like to give members of that forum a discount on all products that I offer.

How can I go about setting this up, so that it always works and they need to enter a code such as a coupon code? I have had a look but can't work it out.

Group pricing will allow you to give a group of customers a discount but you need to add those customers to a group.

It would be possible to modify Zen to accept a code when they set up their account but there is some coding involved in that.

If you don't want to do that coding yourself, or pay someone else to do it, then adding the customers to the group yourself is the way to go. It is also intrinsically more secure. What if the code was distributed on the internet?

Well, I believe that this is not a standard feature and would need coding also. But:

1. I may be wrong
2. It may have been done before so the code may already exist

So, have a really really good search of the forum to see if you can find someone who has previously encountered and solved this problem

You'd have to write software; nothing is built in.

Rather than use a coupon code though, I would prefer to see you checking the forum database for a matching email address and granting the discount/free shipping on that basis. As the previous poster pointed out, coupon codes have a way of leaking out.

Hi All

My discount problem,
3. Add blank discount applied on checkout as below:
a) Discount of $25 applied to all orders above 250sq.ft
b) Discount of $50 applied to all orders above 500sq.ft
c) Discount of $100 applied to all orders above 1000sq.ft

this will be apply on the final order price,

You haven't really given enough information but this sounds pretty much like a straight forward quantity discount set up.

Either use the default quantity discounts or if you want something a bit more powerful look at swguy's mod 'quantity discounts'
