New To Zencart Help needed to set up wamp

Hi all,

I really hope to get some help here.
I have done standard websites, this will be my 1st zencart.
I have installed on my server with fantastico.
And i want to make a copy on wamp or xampp to work on.
However i am having problems and can not find a good source of
info anywhere. Do I have to buy the book!

I could not install zencart manually on wamp because of read only permissions on xp. I have tried every thing and it still comes up as read only on the cache folder.

I have now managed to install a fresh zencart on my wamp using 2.0h not 2.0i.

But I would still like some tips on the best way to work on a local site before uploading to your live site.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for link, I have sorted that now

But I would like to know if you work on a local then upload to live.
Or do most of you just work on the live.

If you work on a local how do you ensure it's all the same for databases etc.

Create on localhost....ftp to main web server, altering both config files to reflect move..MAKE BACKUP COPIES of those config files BEFORE altering.
