Columns & image size for categories on main page

I am looking for the pages where I can change the columns and image sizes for the categories listed on the main page.

That changes how products are listed. I'm talking about the categories on the main/initial page

What is even more odd, is that when I went ahead and installed it, it now won't let me change it back. Each time I try to change columns to rows and hit submit I just get kicked to the main admin page. Any ideas on how to fix this?
