Image preload for hover effect

Hey guys,

I'm not sure if this is the right area to post this in, but it looked like the best match.

I recently added a hover effect to the small images that causes the large image to flip to the large version of the image being hovered over.

However, there is a lag each time a new image loads and I figured this could be handled with a nice javascript preload of the product images.

Can someone tell me how I can get an array of the images associated with the product page so I can send them to a javascript preloader?

It's seriously driving me crazy and it seems to be happening mainly in firefox.
