will not change template

I have copy and pasted a new template into the template folder but before I did that I updated to the latest Zen version. Now it won't let me change the old template to any template including the ones that come standard.

We'll need a little more info. Do all the templates show up in the Admin - Tools - Template Selection dropdown?

What does 'it won't let me' mean? What happens when you try to change templates?

What template is controlling your site now? A link would help.

All original templates appear; Desert Noon, Apple Zen, Classic Contemporary Green and a new one called Red Passion. It is stuck on Clean Business

when I try to change the template by clicking on "edit" select Red Passion then click "Update" it then goes straight to a page that has headers "stats", "new customers" and "new orders"

Then when I recheck the template page through tools/template selection it is still on Clean Business.

Do other admin functions work OK?

Admin changes that don't 'take' is one possible symptom of an improperly installed security patch, usually where the security patch files are uploaded to the cart part of the site rather than admin.
