coupon restrictions

how do i set this up ? i only want a discount coupon to be effective for two categorys. how do i restrict the categories

Gift Certificate/Coupons -> Coupon Admin -> Restrictions.

Set the Restrictions to:
Top Deny
Cat 1 Allow
Cat 2 Allow

ah found it now ! i thought it was meant to be part of the menu but it appears as an option once you create the coupon. thx guys ive now set it to allow the two categories and set the products to top deny. but its including all the products at the same discount rate - do i have to go in and deny them all individually ?

When you say it is including all the products at the same discount rate ... can you be more specific?

What are you setting and what is it doing?

Also, what version of Zen Cart are you running?

i also hit "add" for top deny but nothing showing just the two categories

all products on the order have the discount applied even if they arent in cat 1 or 2

Note: we are on v1.3.7 ...

I don't know off the top of my head the bugs and security issues in v1.3.0.1 but a lot of fixes were made since then related to coupons ...

I would seriously upgrade your site and then start fixing, if need be, the coupons ... I think you will find the errors are all gone once you upgrade ...

I have the 1.3.8 version and my coupon admin is still not working properly when I add restrictions to the coupon. When the customer tries to use the coupon ( with restrictions) then the page just reloads it doesn't go on to finish the checkout and it doesn't recognize the coupon.

I have several coupons out for the holidays.. Please help...

Could you list how you have your Discount Coupon setup? It could be a configuration issue ...

What restrictions have you set?

I would also check the Known Bugfixes as there are several related fixes:

things specific to Discount Coupons or master_categories_id can affect these ...

I am having a similar issue. I can set up a coupon, but if I add one restriction it boots everything else out and gives an error when using the code that no products in the cart qualify.

The only way I found around it last time was to add every single product as "Allow" and the 5 I didn't want as "Deny". Problem is I have 50 categories so it took me a while.

At first I just tried to say Top - Allow, and then Deny for the 5 I didn't want. What am I missing? Is this a bug?
