Gateway that allows you to hold payments until product in stock?

Hi

I want to be able to allow customers to run through a normal checkout process and enter their details with a payment gateway like Worldpay, Protx or Google checkout. But i dont want the payment to be taken from them until i authorise with the gateway that the product is in stock and shipped. Kind of like how all the major online shops work, amazon, play.com etc...

Is their any payment gateways or banks that provide this feature.

As far as I know, amazon uses bank deposit or credit card payment, which is not processed (send to the payment provide) until the order is processed. Meaning you have to store the payment data and process the payment together with the order.

Hi thanks for the info

I found this with Protx where they take the payment details confirm the order with zencart but then hold the payment i think until you go in and authorise it.

You can set most Merchant Accounts/Gateway/Credit Card processing accounts to Authorize and not capture until later. Note: there are usually expiration times on the authorization and you may get charged for authorizations that are not captured.
