    help question Rename Admin folder

I follow the below instruction to rename the admin folder.

    http://tutorials.zen-cart.com/index.php?article=33

But after changes, I can only access the admin panel with link = www.mydomain/new_admin/login.php rather than simply
    www.mydomain/new_admin/

Anyone know why? Any potential problem?

    Automatic redirection

    from
    www.mydomain/new_admin/

    to
    www.mydomain/new_admin/login.php

is normal as that is how Zen Cart operates.

If you are experiencing something different you would need to provide specific details; preferably step-by-step details.

help question Re: Rename Admin folder

    If I simply type

    www.mydomain/new_admin/

it will prompt me "page not found", I need to type

    www.mydomain/new_admin/login.php

in order to get access to the admin panel. Although it's not a big problem, but I just want to know why. I also wonder if there is any potential problem hidden.

If you don't specify a file to load (such as login.php), it *should* automatically load "index.php" ... but that only happens if your server is configured to do that.

Best to talk to your hosting company for help in making sure your DirectoryIndex is set properly in the apache server settings.

is there a .htaccess file in www.mydomain or www.mydomain/new_admin ? also a similar problem occurred when someone had SSL enabled in their admin/includes/configure.php file and it was redirecting to a non-existent SSL site which could give a 404 but typing in the URL without SSL would find the correct file for login.php
