Default Wrong amount to pay after using gift certs

    Hello all,

I'm acting as a customer and purchasing a gift certificate (no prob).

Then I'm acting as the Admin and releasing the GC from queue. (no prob).

Now, I'm the customer again, and have received my notification email saying I've received a GC for $x. (no prob)

So off I go to spend my gift certificate. I put a number of products in my cart and make sure it's OVER the GC amount, so I can see if it's accurately assessing what's left over to pay via Paypal or MO. Every time it overcalculates what I need to pay. What am I doing wrong???

Ex. bought a gift certificate for $50

    product comes to 54.38
    add in shipping 3.92
    add tax 4.35
    DEDUCT GC -50.00

    amount to pay 20.95

what could i possibly be doing wrong???

    Thanks,
    April

I had the same thing happening and it was driving me nuts. It just made no sense. After much searching and a little trial and error. This is what worked for me.

I got the initial idea for solving my problem from this thread... http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40651

Then as i was adjusting the setting in Admin>Modules>Order Total>Gift Certificate, I had the problem that I want the gift certificate to just plain old subtract from the current total and not actually recalculate tax... In my state, tax is not charged on the purchase of a gift certificate but is required to be collected on the item purchase whether a gift credit is used or not. I finally got it working as a straight deduction from the total with these settings.

    Include shipping: false
    Include tax: false
    recalculate tax: credit note
    tax class: none
    credit including tax: false

Not sure i completely understand why it worked. It seems that the last two settings allow the gift certificate to be a credit without actually recalculating the tax.

    Hope this helps you!

    Hi

I too am having an issue

I don't actually sell gift certificates but issue them to loyal customers. Doing a test run I got the following

    Sub-Total: $48.00
FREE SHIPPING! (Free Shipping Only): $0.00
    Gift Certificates: -$10.00
    Total: $71.64

    GST 10% (Included): $38.00

My problem is I followed your advice above Admin-->Modules-->Order Total but I don't see a Gift Certificates option as you have described (all I have is a COD Fee).

My other problem I have now realised is that I have done 3 trial runs now with $10 certificates each time.

In the admin module I see that I have redeemed all three. This should have my balance at $0?

But when I go to Gift Certificate FAQ I have

    Gift Certificate Account
You have a balance available in your Gift Certificate account. You may spend it or send it to someone else. To send click the button below.

Your Gift Certificate balance is: $30.00

Also when I checkout it has $30 available balance how much do you want to redeem.....

    Something seems screwed up.

The only thing i found that might help is here. https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=64

It is basically talking about having a gift certificate in your products so that you can manage the setting in Admin> Modules >Order Totals.

If you are not selling gift certificates, did you take them all out of your products? If so, you might have to add one back to make it work - maybe make it not visible in the store or something.

I am not sure if this is causing the other problem as well. When you went back to "Gift certificate facts" did you refresh the browser... i had that problem when i was working on my store... a quick refresh showed the current data.

Let me know how it goes - definitely get back with a solution if you find one! Good Luck.

    Thanks Valleybomb

I did have some luck with the mod in this thread

    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...n+code&page=20

At least now the values add correctly. The mods are so cool..........

In terms of seeing it in the Modules --> Order Totals - yeah did all the refresh things

    Got the idea of

    Try to reload the files:
    /includes/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php
    /includes/languages/english/modules/order_total/ot_gv.php

    from

    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showth...=35726&page=10

but alas that didn't help.....at least its working but am a little concerned if I can't see GV in the Order Totals what else can't I see ??

    Thanks for your quick response.
