I have wide banners and side box banners with images linking to external sites. I deleted the above code (and don't know whether I should be deleting the other banner code) from the custom version of tpl_main_page_php and uploaded it. When I login to the customer account page, the banners disappear which is fine but I still get the dreaded security warning box. Any ideas?

You're right ! I mustn't have deleted all the banner code as suggested by Kobra. I'll check when I get back to the office.
