Stop sub catagories titles from being listed on Main page

Whenever I click on a category that has sub categories (i.e. Adapters category has 4 sub-categories) The sub categories Titles are all listed on the main page. when you click on a sub-category the list of items in that sub category are listed.
I would prefer that the listing of sub-catagories on the main page not happen. When clicking on main category sub-categories show up on my left hand categories box, whereby you can click on sub-categories there to have the items listed on the main page.
Any idea as to how I stop this from happening.

I found the solution in Admin Product listing. I set the "Show Sub-Categories on Main Page while navigating through Categories" to 0 and that stopped the sub-catagories from displaying on the main page.
