    Default Creating new Filter

I am thinking of creating new filter. I have a menu called browse by brands. So when i click on Accessories it should display the Brand names first and then Accessories belong to that brand. For example if i click on Accessories and then choose brand "Reebok" it should display items such as wrist watch and sun glass. At the moment ZEN CART treat Sun glass and watch as a separate category.

Simply i want to view all the Accessories type of Reebok when i click on "Reebok" link. So how can i do this..

    Here is the sample link.

What's the difference between a brand and a manufacturer?

If there isn't any then perhaps you want to look at using manufacturer.

Well, technically speaking there is quite a bit of a difference. For example you may buy a Chevy Cruze "branded" as Chevrolet, only to find out it is nothing but a car manufactured by "Daewoo". Same with Acura and Honda, Lexus and Toyota, ATI and AMD, etc.

If you're shopping around for the best quality product manufacturer is what matters. If you're looking for something brand name or made for a brand name, brand matters.

I wish they were separate (and existent) in Zencart.

Did you do that with the filter or do you just have ezpages for your brands?

    To be clear:

Zen Cart - as default - allows you to assign 'Manufacturer' - to each product. There is also a 'manufacturers' sidebox that can be enabled from the admin section, which will effectively sort products by manufacturer.

Many shops use the 'manufacturer' field to store data other than the manufacturer. This is because 'manufacturer' does not necessarily suit all shops. So, often this field is used to store other information and the words 'Maunfacturer' are simply changed in the front and, optionally, back end of the shop.

I've seen 'manufacturer' used to hold information about distilleries, wineries, star signs, age range - all kinds of things.
