Step 2 adds $30.06 below shipping to order total

I had a problem today with $30.06 being added to the total just below the shipping

++ : $30.06

after checking every thing I had ever modified it occurred to me this probem was in the shipping setup, First I had not put any text int the Description so all that showed on the iNVOICE was

++ $30.06

si I did not see the error first, Now I have this remedied and it now shows that all 4 states like fl + ca + NC = $30.06,. Now I have the zen cart book and have read the short description on how to set it up, Seems to me that I should be able to have different states taxes by what the address is one the shipping address. I have NC, CA, TX and Fl
What is haponing is the firist state in order is the only tax that is not added in while the another3 are combined
Shouldn't you be able to tax for the residents that live in one of these states and leave the other ones alone

Yes, but only if you actually limit each of those zones TO their respective geographic regions.

Admin->Locations/Taxes->Zone Definitions
- click on the zone, and click Details
- make sure you actually assign a country and state to the zone
- repeat for each zone, assigning the proper restrictions to each

I can't seem to get the tax module to work with more then one state. My state is NC but because one of my vendors is in different state they charge tax in TX, CA, and FL. When I try to add these states everyone gets charged for all of them at the same time

CA + FL + TX =

. I have the book and I have read the pages about tax, but maybe I'm stuck on stupid cause I can't seem to get them to charge right by shipping address? I have tried by store to and that changes nothing? I have only NC tax setup so at least I will not loose any more sales.

If you would go to your Locations / Taxes ... Zones Definitions ... and hit DETAILS on each one, I believe that you will find that each one is not defined correctly for the individual state that you meant them for ...

Example ...

TX should be setup for:

Country: United States
Zone: Texas

You have either not defined the specific components of these Zone Definitions or you have set them to something such as:

Country: United States
Zone: All Zones
