Adding cancel to order status dropdown in admin edit orders

Can anyone please help? I need to cancel an order for a customer but in the admin edit order status dropdown it is not posibble. How do i add cancel to the status dropdown?

This solutions works great for adding, editing, or modifying order status. Took me a while to find in search, didn't have the right key words, so I'm adding this post to make it easier for others to find.
