displaying products into another site?

Hi, what i would like to do is use the monthly specials data from my shop and have this displayed on another website.

Im familiar with php and sql and could create some code to do this, but i think i dont think it would be a memory efficient way on the server to do, as zencart itself will have efficient ways of creating queries than what i could create.

One way i was thinking of is creating modifying the index page to only display the specials and then use a wrapper on another site (my other site is a Joomla installation), does this sound a good enough way or is there a more simpler way
