I have tried searching for an answer to this, but I guess I'm not using correct terms. I don't think that this is something that no one's ever wanted to do before...
I have a shop set up that basically only sells downloadable products. Works great.
Now I have a service that we'd like to sell. It would also include a download that basically is the instructions to continue. We actually already have this set up. Also works fine in that the customer can purchase and download the instructions, etc.
What I want to know - is there any way to have this product/service set up so that when a customer purchases it that the quantity in stock automatically decreases? I only want to put maybe 5 in the shop so that the person providing the service doesn't have to continually go into the shop and manually take the product in and out of stock to not have too many orders at a time.
I hope that I have made sense. Is this even possible? I also apologize if this has already been discussed somewhere, but like I said, I couldn't find it with my search terms.
Thanks in advance!![]()

Well, in theory, yes one would always want to sell as many of something as possible, but this is a service with a normal turn around time of 1 week. If there are too many orders at once, then the SLA will be broken, so I'm looking for a way for the shop to manage some part of that process.
