Shopping Cart and Admin displaying incorrect date/time

I installed Zen Cart v1.3.8a on my Linux vmWare Server that shows the correct date/time when I do hwclock. My Zen Cart Shopping Cart and Admin both show 11/24/2009 23:08:18 as I write this post. I see Admin displaying the -0600GMT offset which I believe is correct since my server and Zen Cart installation are in the Central Time Zone.

Do I have something configured wrong? I reviewed my installation procedure, but don't find anything referencing date/time settings. I don't have any addons installed.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

After futher digging, I determined the date/time was wrong on my Linux vmWare test server.
