Default Orange paypal button not working for us

When a customer presses on "check out with paypal" store sends an order confirmation, yet no transaction through paypal.

Had a customer try 3 times, then I tried, did not work, just the order confirmation. Then I pressed on "go to checkout" and went through paypal again, it worked????

Why do I have both, how do I either get the orange paypal button working or get rid of it?

    Thanks

    Guy

Just tested your PPEC button and it took me straight to PayPal (I stopped there of course). Did your customer get an error at all?

You may want to turn on your debug mode for a while (Admin >>> Modules >>> Payment) and see which errors are being reported - if any.

You can only get rid of it by deactivating PayPal Express Checkout. In that case you may need to install, configure and activate PayPal IPN - Website Payments Standard.

And that of course puts you in the dark ages, with all the limitations and quirks of the IPN module.

Yes, it does get you into paypal, and you can enter the sale notmally but the payment does not go through, and no money leaves the customers bank account.

It all appears notmal except that no money changes hands.

And when the order gets stored in your admin, what payment module does it show as being used to pay for the order? Admin->Customers->Orders, column 2.
I'll bet that it doesn't say PayPal at all for those orders.

In Admin->Modules->Payment, you see all the payment modules available to you. I suspect you've got some in there that you're not using, and instead of properly clicking "Remove" to prevent them being used, you merely set the "enabled" option to "false", thus allowing them to still activate under certain criteria.

The ones that did not go through say "CC Canada Post" but no mention of paypal,
so there is some clash with CP?

"CC" will be referring to "Credit Card", as in the "credit card -- offline module".
"Canada Post" refers to the shipping module, which is unrelated to payment handling.

As I said previously, if you're not using the Offline Credit Card module (and you shouldn't be), then you need to click on its "Remove" button so that it can't be soft-enabled by mistake. Same with any others you're not actually using.

That seems to have fixed it, thanks Doc.
