Additional Product Images not displaying Large

I am trying to set up additional product images and have run into a problem. I have searched the forum and haven't found a similar problem, so sorry if this is a duplicate.

The problem is, on my product info page, if you click "larger image" on an additional photo, it only opens it as a small image. I have all the images uploaded correctly, and if you click on the main image, to view a larger version, it will open a larger image, so I know that the folder structure is correct.

I have my images set up like this:
images/product_images/photo.jpg
images/product_images/photo_01.jpg
images/product_images/photo_02.jpg
images/medium/product_images/photo_MED.jpg
images/large/product_images/photo_LRG.jpg
images/large/product_images/photo_01_LRG.jpg
images/large/product_images/photo_02_LRG.jpg

So, like I said... the main one is working, photo_LRG.jpg is working. The others are not, even though they are correctly named and in the right folder.

It is not just opening the larger image smaller, it is just opening the small images. So, for example it is only opening photo_01.jpg instead of photo_01_LRG.jpg.

I cannot seem to figure out why this is happening. Thanks for any help!


I'm using the newest version of ZenCart.
I am using a few add-ons... Stock by Attributes, Newsletter Subscribe, and Return Authorization. None of those affect the page I am having problems with, though.
I have customized tpl_product_info_display.php but have checked to make sure that everything between bof Additional Images and eof Additional Images is exactly the same as on a fresh install.
This is my first Zen Cart site and it is not live.

have you thought about using image handler 2?

saves all that fannying about with FTP and also resizes images on the fly increasing a ZC site speed. easy to install too..

Thanks for the suggestion mcshane, but I'd rather not use another add on. I really just want to figure out why the base install isn't working. That looks great though, and I might end up using it anyways.

also i strongly recommend IH2.. It sorts alll that resizing of additional images out for you and speeds up your site...

There are some problems with your file naming

A group should go like this
img_product_images-photo_01.jpg (root Image IE small)
img_porduct_images-photo_01_MED.jpg (med Image)
img_product_images-photo_01_LRG.jpg (large Image)
img_product_images-photo_01_ex1.jpg
img_product_images-photo_01_ex2.jpg (for the extra images)

The extra images need to have their own unique title but one which is based on the root images that you uploaded from the admin.

Make the extra images the dimension size that you want the image to appear when a visitor clicks the Larger Image Link.

Zen cart will size down the extra image that appears on the product info page automatically.

It is good to come up with your file naming system from the start or it just gets crazy later on when you have a ton of images loaded.

Oh another note. It is best to just use _ and - in your file names and not / which confuses the poor computers and makes headaches for us humans.

Craft Adventurer - I think you are reading my post wrong. The file names do not have "/"s in them, the "/"s show folder structure. The file names after them, for example.. "photo.jpg" and "photo_01.jpg". Maybe, I'm reading your post wrong, though! Also, where should I be uploading the additional images? I believe I have them in the right folders, but that's obviously not working for me :)

Thanks again Shane. I have read that though, and I believe my file names correspond with the way that tutorial says to do it. If you see that they don't, please tell me where! That could be my whole problem! I did download and install Image Handler 2, but I am still having the problem. Even with IH2, the large images will not show up.
