Unable to add subcategories

Hi using version 1.3.8a site is http://www.broomebeads.com.au/. I have just deleted a category and I am wondering whether this has some bearing on my problem which is that I am unable to add a subcategory to a category I have called Czech Beads. Thanks for any help.

Do you have products in Czech Beads? You can't have both products and subcategories in a category.

Yes I do .. so how can I move some of the products that are in the Czech Bead category to a subcategory. My situation is that the last 4 pages of 17 pages are of a different size and I would like to put them in a subcategory. I cannot use size attributes as each image has its own code set by the store owner. Thanks

You can create a temporary category and move those products to that, create the new subcategory and move them to that, then delete the temp category.
