Free Products downloads vs. purchased downloads

I have a downloadable product that require a payment through paypal and a free product that does not. When I had a friend try both out the make sure they worked she had no problem getting the download link after making the payment on the first but there was no link for the download on the freebie yet they were set up using the same step from the same tutorial. Why does the link no show on the freebie???

Each Payment Module has an Order Status setting ...

The Order Status is used to trigger the Download link ...

By default, the Download is available for Order Status >=2 (Processing 2) and <= 4 (Delivered 3 Updated 4) ...

NOTE: be sure when offering Free Products that result in a $0.00 order that you install the FREE SHIPPING! freeshipper shipping module as well and set its Order Status ...

Yes yes all that is set correctly. But I should be more clear, this only happens when a freebie and a purchase product are combined into one checkout. If its freebies only or purchase only the links show fine but if a freebie and a few purchase downloads are purchased in one checkout the purchased downloads have links and the freebies do now. How do I fix THAT?

You are saying you have a Download Product for a charge ... and a Download Product that is Free ... and when both are in the cart only the Download Product with the charge is showing the download link on the checkout_success and account_history?

Or are you saying when both are in the same order that there are *no* download links on *any* downloads as the Order Status is set to Pending?

What Payment Modules do you have installed?

What Payment Modules are installed but disabled? If you have any that are installed but disabled ... they should be REMOVED ...

On the Payment Modules that are installed ... edit each one and check its Orders Status ...

Also be sure to check the settings on the Products ... Download Products should be marked as:

Product is Virtual: No, Shipping Address Required

Always Free Shipping: No, Normal Shipping Rules

i have one free product and i want to give this to customers who buy 2 or more products;

the problem is we need to hide the free product as customers may directly add this;

is there a way that i can hide this free product and will automatically added to cart if customers buy two or more products

correction. I have checked the modules and all settings are fine but she pointed out that her problem is only with png files as some of the files are png. files and some are zips and apparently she is having trouble downloading the png. files and not the zips for example her order was as follows

1 x A Lil Attitude Wordart
- download: zip file $1.50
1 x Sarcasm wordart 1
- sarcasm 1: zip file $1.50
1 x Sarcasm wordart 2
- sarcasm 2: zip file %1.50
1 x Families are like fudge, mostly sweet with a few nuts
- families are like fudge: png file $0.25
1 x Nothing great was ever accomplished by being a wimp
- being a winp: png file$0.25
1 x Fatten Up Everyone FREE
- Fatten up Everyone: zip file
1 x I am Man hear me snore! FREE
- I am man hear me snore freebie: png file

The items in bold she had no problems with and the rest she did so apparently its an issue with the png files. She tried in IE is shows as BMP and Mozilla as PHP but no download. So Im thinking I need to keep all files as zips to avoid this problem?

Pick one of the problem files and zip it and set on the Attribute the new Zip file ... does this fix the problem?

Zipping all the files did indeed solve the problem. I will have to zip all the files from now on.

Out of curiosity are you using v1.3.8 or v1.3.9?
