UK counties and US States

I currently have the "Uk Counties sql script for RoyalMail" installed but now that I can supply to the US now, is there a way that I can have a dropdown on the Registration page that lists the US States AND the UK counties. Currently when someone from the US registers, they have to enter their state manually, but I want it to work the same way as when someone from the UK registers.

Any help with be greatly appreciated.

If they change country, the dropdown should already repopulate with the US states.

If you're asking if you can put both into a single dropdown, that would be a larger code change (mainly in the javascript that builds the dropdown entries) and you may need to custom write extra validation for both in-browser and server-side use to ensure that the county/state selected is consistent with the country chosen (not recommended).

No. When a customer selects USA as their country, the UK County dropdown vanishes and is replaced by a text box. It's not a major problem as I doubt I'll be supplying much to the US. Thanks anyway.

Ah yes, you're right. My apologies, since most of my clients are UK-based nowadays, I usually start with the UK counties all loaded up, but that's not the normal state.

There's an option in Admin - Configuration - Customer Details that controls the State dropdown.

aside from the ZONES needing to be configured (ZC standard does not populate UK Counties), you can change the ORDER in which State and Country fields appear, on the registration form, for example.

If you select State - Always a Dropdown - in your admin panel, then EDIT this file:

tpl_modules_create_account.php

and move the COUNTRY fieldset ABOVE the state fieldset.

So the visitor selects COUNTRY first... which then "populates" the dropdown for STATE with appropriate zones.
