Front Page is blank after editing side boxes HELP PLEASE!!!

current version of Zencart
no add ons in stalled as far as I know.
Changed the colors and the header on the pages.

I have looked in both the FAQ and in the forum and no luck to match or answer my problem.

The problem started after changing the name of page 2 in the proper spots .

I have gone in now and change some of the pages back and no luck to get the front page to show again

Please if anyone can help would really appreciate it ...

some text editors add extra characters just for fun to mess up php files....get 1 that doesnt' do it and check for any spaces after the last.>? and delete em

This is a common problem when files are edited using programs that FORMAT the text. You must use a Plain Text Editor (Emerald Editor or Notepad++ are good examples).

Don't let any program with "Microsoft" in its title get to within 100 trillion lightyears of your ZC files.

I did what the instructions said and there was no log file .. Is the file hidden in the ftp or do I need to go look through the file mgr on site..???

As the problems appear to be related to that sidebox module you uploaded, then the diagnosis is relatively straightforward.

Start by looking at the FTP program you are using. What FTP program is it? Does it FTP files properly (ASCII for most text-based files, and BINARY for formatted files like images).

If you are using a cheap and nasty FTP program, it could be that it is corrupting the files during FTP transfer.

What if you DISABLE the new sidebox in admin >>> tools >>> layout boxes controller? Switch the sidebox OFF. Do you still get a blank page? If so, then something else is corruoted.

The error logging utility WILL return error logs. Make sure you REFRESH your ftp remote pane when you navigate to the cache folder.

thank you for all your help I desided to just reinstall though I am now getting on most pages in the browser bar strange names ... front page is showing HOME_PAGE_TITLE

I attempted to fix and no change happened ..
