I've got a client who wants to base their wholesale discounts on the quantity of products ordered, not a min. per product.
IE. order 12+ items total get 20% off. Order 50+ items get 40% off.
What is the best way to do that? In looking at the wholesale modules they are working off per product discounts.

This would have to be custom coded to check the total # of items and then apply the specified discount

Look at the Quantity Discounts contribution in the Add Ons area. You can count by number of items in the cart.
