Front page looks differen when I switch to my override template

I'm sure this has been dealt within many times, but after looking for almost an hour, I can't find a good solution, so here's my stupid question.

I followed the following instructions as closely as possible:

The problem is, when I switch to my custom template, the front page looks completely different. I have made no image or structure changes, but my template is missing the logo, and the box colors have turned to pink, orange, purple, etc, instead of the classic green.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

The problem is, when I switch to my custom template, the front page looks completely different.

Following the instructions - - you have copied the css from template_default and it is styling it the same as default
You can re-style as you want
